Lou Reed, Velvet Underground Leader and Rock Pioneer, Dead at 71

Lou Reed, a massively influential songwriter and guitarist who helped shape nearly fifty years of rock music, died today. The cause of his death has not yet been released, but Reed underwent a liver transplant in May.
Look back at Lou Reed's remarkable career in photos
With the Velvet Underground in the late Sixties, Reed fused street-level urgency with elements of European avant-garde music, marrying beauty and noise, while bringing a whole new lyrical honesty to rock & roll poetry. As a restlessly inventive solo artist, from the Seventies into the 2010s, he was chameleonic, thorny and unpredictable, challenging his fans at every turn. Glam, punk and alternative rock are all unthinkable without his revelatory example. "One chord is fine," he once said, alluding to his bare-bones guitar style. "Two chords are pushing it. Three chords and you're into jazz."
Lewis Allan "Lou" Reed was born in Brooklyn, in 1942. A fan of doo-wop and early rock & roll (he movingly inducted Dion into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989), Reed also took formative inspiration during his studies at Syracuse University with the poet Delmore Schwartz. After college, he worked as a staff songwriter for the novelty label Pickwick Records (where he had a minor hit in 1964 with a dance-song parody called "The Ostrich"). In the mid-Sixties, Reed befriended Welsh musician John Cale, a classically trained violist who had performed with groundbreaking minimalist composer La Monte Young. Reed and Cale formed a band called the Primitives, then changed their name to the Warlocks. After meeting guitarist Sterling Morrison and drummer Maureen Tucker, they became the Velvet Underground. With a stark sound and ominous look, the band caught the attention of Andy Warhol, who incorporated the Velvets into his Exploding Plastic Inevitable. "Andy would show his movies on us," Reed said. "We wore black so you could see the movie. But we were all wearing black anyway."
"Produced" by Warhol and met with total commercial indifference when it was released in early 1967, VU’s debut The Velvet Underground & Nico stands as a landmark on par with the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Bob Dylan's Blonde On Blonde. Reed's matter-of-fact descriptions of New York’s bohemian demimonde, rife with allusions to drugs and S&M, pushed beyond even the Rolling Stones’ darkest moments, while the heavy doses of distortion and noise for its own sake revolutionized rock guitar. The band’s three subsequent albums – 1968’s even more corrosive sounding White Light/White Heat, 1969’s fragile, folk-toned The Velvet Underground and 1970’s Loaded, which despite being recorded while he was leaving the group, contained two Reed standards, “Rock & Roll” and “Sweet Jane,” were similarly ignored. But they’d be embraced by future generations, cementing the Velvet Underground’s status as the most influential American rock band of all time.
Read Rolling Stone's 1989 Lou Reed cover story
After splitting with the Velvets in 1970, Reed traveled to England and, in characteristically paradoxical fashion, recorded a solo debut backed by members of the progressive-rock band Yes. But it was his next album, 1972’s Transformer, produced by Reed-disciple David Bowie, that pushed him beyond cult status into genuine rock stardom. “Walk On the Wild Side,” a loving yet unsentimental evocation of Warhol’s Factory scene, became a radio hit (despite its allusions to oral sex) and “Satellite of Love” was covered by U2 and others. Reed spent the Seventies defying expectations almost as a kind of sport. 1973’s Berlin was brutal literary bombast while 1974’s Sally Can’t Dance had soul horns and flashy guitar. In 1975 he released Metal Machine Music, a seething all-noise experiment his label RCA marketed as a avant-garde classic music, while 1978’s banter-heavy live album Take No Prisoners was a kind of comedy record in which Reed went on wild tangents and savaged rock critics by name (“Lou sure is adept at figuring out new ways to shit on people,” one of those critics, Robert Christgau, wrote at the time). Explaining his less-than-accommodating career trajectory, Reed told journalist Lester Bangs, “My bullshit is worth more than other people’s diamonds.”
Reed’s ambiguous sexual persona and excessive drug use throughout the Seventies was the stuff of underground rock myth. But in the Eighties, he began to mellow. He married Sylvia Morales and opened a window into his new married life on 1982’s excellent The Blue Mask, his best work since Transformer. His 1984 album New Sensations took a more commercial turn and 1989’s New York ended the decade with a set of funny, politically cutting songs that received universal critical praise. In 1991, he collaborated with Cale on Songs For Drella, a tribute to Warhol. Three years later, the Velvet Underground reunited for a series of successful European gigs.
Reed and Morales divorced in the early Nineties. Within a few years, Reed began a relationship with musician-performance artist Laurie Anderson. The two became an inseparable New York fixture, collaborating and performing live together, while also engaging in civic and environmental activism. They were married in 2008.
Reed continued to follow his own idiosyncratic artistic impulses throughout the ‘00s. The once-decadent rocker became an avid student of T'ai Chi, even bringing his instructor onstage during concerts in 2003. In 2005 he released a double CD called The Raven, based on the work of Edgar Allen Poe. In 2007, he released an ambient album titled Hudson River Wind Meditations. Reed returned to mainstream rock with 2011’s Lulu, a collaboration with Metallica.
“All through this, I’ve always thought that if you thought of all of it as a book then you have the Great American Novel, every record as a chapter,” he told Rolling Stone in 1987. “They’re all in chronological order. You take the whole thing, stack it and listen to it in order, there’s my Great American Novel.”

Wha For Monica OR NOT ! Come on Kat really kiddo?? Survivor thoughts oh good god lol

WHA big tears running down my cheek Brad is gone and Monica is all alone WHA NOT NO TEARS for her lol! Both of them on my last nerve and Kat come on kiddo really talking like that saying you have everyones back??? I hate to say it but Vytas was right about your back being up against the wall you got scared kiddo and rightfully so to be honest..

Part of Survivor is talking strategy thats all I seen or heard in the years I have been watching the show that everyone talks strategy of one form or another! I myself no have never been on the show or tried out for the show because I don't think id make it out there to be honest but then again who knows maybe I could but I have a special needs child at home that needs me and my kids come first and maybe when they are out and grown and he is living in a home with care that he needs then maybe I would consider trying out for Survivor.. Though one thing I have learned watching and listening to Jeff even is that you talk strategy and you make alliances and build trusts with those you feel you can and your taking a risk sure but it will tell you ..

So on that note I was so so so so GLAD to see Brad go and now I want Monica to follow here soon .. I already have my final three who I want for sure now is Laura B (Rupert's Wife) , Caleb (Colton's Fiancée'),Hayden or Laura M when if she gets back into the game and I think she will id like to see John come back to if they have more than just final 3 then John id like to see as final 4

No can't really make my mind up lol oh well..

Well thats it for now folks have a great evening or day where ever in the world you may live and be kind to one another

'Dancing with the Stars' Week 5 Recap: Their Most Memorable Years
Monday, October 14, 2013

John Kubicek
Senior Writer, BuddyTV

The Top 9 couples on Dancing with the Stars season 17 features a lot of incredible talent, Four of the couples have already received at least one 27 from the judges while two others have also received 9s. In fact, two-thirds of all the dances from these nine pairs have received a 24 or higher.

In week 5, each star will look back at their most memorable year before taking the stage for a dance they haven't done yet. So get ready for some emotional stories, Foxtrots and more on Dancing with the Stars!

Since there are no results shows, DWTS is shoe-horning guest performances into the real show, so we start with "Wake Me Up" by Aloe Blacc. The lyrics "wake me up when it's all over" echo my own sentiments.

Luckily they brought back the individual introductions for the couples, but they don't walk down the stairs. Mark Ballas' neon green vest is already stealing the spotlight from his partner.

Tom Bergeron lets us know that, as of now, based on the viewer votes, a female is at the bottom. Ooh, interesting, Snooki? Leah? Christina?

Christina Milian and Mark Ballas: Cha-Cha-Cha

Her Most Memorable Year: 2010. She gave birth to her daughter and divorced her cheating husband. So they're dancing to Cee Lo Green's "Forget You." I guess she isn't bitter over being ousted from The Voice.

She has great moves, and it looks like Mark took Julianne Hough's advice to heart because the choreography is all focused on making Christina the center of attention. I hope Mark takes this as a lesson for the future. However, it's full of one of my personal pet peeves, when many of her movements and gestures mimic the lyrics of the song, which seems kind of hokey. The judges, including the return of Len Goodman, lavish praise on her and have nothing bad to say.

Judges' Scores: 9+10+9=28

Wow, the first 10 of the season! Len must have really enjoyed his vacation.

Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke: Waltz

His Most Memorable Year: 2012. He had a baby daughter, and two and a half weeks later he was diagnosed with M.S. So Jack and Christina's most memorable years BOTH featured new daughters followed by tragedy? Of course Jack's is much more moving because he's saddened and scared about not being able to keep up with his baby.

The dance is beautiful and surprisingly good. I guess Jack's rigidity is actually a benefit in the Waltz because it doesn't require him to shake his hips so much. Bruno Tonioli was touched by his story and was impressed with Jack's bum. Once again, it's unanimous praise from the judges.

Judges' Scores: 9+9+9=27

The judges are in a very good mood tonight. This makes Jack the seventh dancer this season to earn a 9, and the sixth to get a 27 or higher. It also guarantees that my prediction of Jack being eliminated is oh-so-wrong.

Leah Remini and Tony Dovolani: Contemporary

Her Most Memorable Year: 2013. It's all because of her decision to leave Scientology and the challenges she's faced having to stand on her own and "Roar," hence the Katy Perry song choice.

Leah makes a joke about how Tony, who has never done Contemporary, should get Corbin Bleu to choreograph their dance. Her concept is about Tony playing a puppet master as Leah cuts the strings. In other words, Tony is L. Ron Hubbard.

The dance has the same issues as Christina's, with Leah's movements constantly mimicking the lyrics. I love the concept and some of the set pieces, but the dancing is lacking and there aren't really any transitions. Carrie Ann Inaba agrees and points out the fact that it was more concept than dance. Leah once again whines about not being a dancer. I'm sick and tired of her bitching about how unfair it is that people like Corbin have dance backgrounds.

Judges' Scores: 7+7+8=22

Yikes, with the news that a woman had the fewest votes, she could be in trouble and Lord Xenu will win. But if all she's gonna do is talk about Scientology and Corbin Bleu, I'd be fine with that.

Paris Hilton is in the audience to support Christina Milian, which just makes me like Christina even less. Brooke Burke-Charvet then tries to get Paris to be on the next season.

Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff: Foxtrot

His Most Memorable Year: 2011. His sister Phoenix was diagnosed with scoliosis and wears a brace 24/7, but she's coping with it like a champion.

There's no gimmick or concept, it's just Corbin dancing like a pro, as he always does. We all know he's going to be in the finale, so it's all just a formality. Bruno calls him the lovechild of Fred Astaire and Ben Vereen. I feel like the judges assume Corbin will get a 10 and spend his dances looking for a reason to deduct a point or two. Carrie Ann complains about lifts and Karina says there was none.

Judges' Scores: 9+9+10-28

Tom pipes in to say that they are going to get a slo-mo instant replay to see if there was a lift, and Carrie Ann may add that one point back that she deducted for a perceived lift. UPDATE: After a commercial, Tom adds that the rulebook states all judges' scores are final, so lift or no lift, it's a 9 from Carrie Ann.

Bill Engvall and Emma Slater: Viennese Waltz

His Most Memorable Year: 1982. It's the year he married his wife. It's also earlier than most of the people on this show were born. It's great to have a sweet, funny, romantic story and not one filled with tragedy. Plus, since his wife is named Gail, it makes me think Bill is the real-life Jerry Gergich from Parks and Recreation.

I don't know why I had my doubts about this, because I think it's lovely and Bill is so fast on his feet and brings a smile to everyone's faces. The judges point out some technical issues, but they love his spirit.

Judges' Scores: 8+8+8=24

It's official that Bill and Leah are the only stars left who have yet to get a 9.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Sasha Farber: Jazz

Her Most Memorable Year: 2012. She gave birth. Clearly having a kid is memorable. She admits she was a crazy drunk before getting pregnant and all the Internet comments about her being a bad mom got to her, but she's changed and dedicated herself to being a better person and a great mom. She's dancing to Britney Spears' "Work Bitch."

The bitch definitely works, and there's a lot of movement, but I'm just not a fan. First, it doesn't really connect to being a mom because the routine is all dirty and sexy. It's kind of like she's in a dance club. Carrie Ann says it reminded her favorite drag queen, RuPaul. They all love it. I get it, but it's so completely different from everything else. Maybe I'm a grumpy old man, but I still think they need to drop Jazz and Contemporary as styles. Stick with ballroom.

Judges' Scores: 9+9+9=27

Now seven different couples have received a 27 or higher. That should keep her safe, so things are looking very, very bad for Leah.

Brant Daugherty and Peta Murgatroyd: Contemporary

His Most Memorable Year: 2009. He moved to Hollywood to pursue his dream of becoming an actor, and at the same time his dad died from lymphoma. After his dad's death he worked hard and got acting jobs, including Pretty Little Liars.

The dance is beautiful, and not just because Brant's shirt is open. The story and dedication to his father make it extra touching, and his movements are so fierce, fearless and graceful. The judges love every single thing about it because the movements connected to the story and the emotion.

Judges' Scores: 9+9+9=27

Boo, there should've been a 10 in there, but I think they don't like giving a 10 to a Contemporary routine.

Amber Riley and Derek Hough: Foxtrot

Her Most Memorable Year: 2009 She auditioned for American Idol and got turned down, but then she landed the role of Mercedes on Glee.

This is actually my favorite performance of hers since week 1. I think Derek is finally learning how to choreograph for Amber, because it's different than some of his past partners. She doesn't look tired and her energy and acting is spot-on. The judges agree that she's a star. Len complains about there not being enough Foxtrot.

Judges' Scores: 9+7+10= 26

Egads, I have whiplash from those scores! However, this is nothing new, and Derek needs to know that if he ignores the style and does whatever he wants, Len is gonna call him out on it.

Elizabeth Berkley and Val Chmerkovskiy: Jive

Her Most Memorable Yearsr: 1989 and 2012. She doesn't play by the rules, so she gets two years, when her baby was born and when she first started on Saved by the Bell. Mario Lopez is in the audience (A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano 4EVA!) and she's dancing to "I'm So Excited," which is the song I most wanted her to use.

OH! MY! GOD! The routine opens with a recreation of Saved by the Bell as Val climbs through the window of Jessie's bedroom and catches her taking Jive Pills. She needs them! She even does "I'm so excited, I'm so excited, I'm so scared." Everything else doesn't matter, because that moment alone deserves a 30.

Judges' Scores: 8+9+9=26

Tom then says Elizabeth and Val are...IN JEOPARDY! Dear God, no!

The Results

It's time to read a list again. The following couples are SAFE:

Corbin and Karina
Amber and Derek
Bill and Emma
Jack and Cheryl
Brant and Peta
Snooki and Sasha

Christina and Mark are...IN JEOPARDY!
Leah and Tony are...IN JEOPARDY!

Elizabeth and Val are...SAFE!

Christina Milian and Mark Ballas are ELIMINATED!

Wow! They tied for the highest score of the night and got the first 10 of the season tonight. That's gotta hurt, and it means no one likes her at all and she just didn't have the votes to stay when the scores are all so close. Mark has some pretty bad luck, just like with Sabrina Bryan, but even worse.

To be fair, in my prediction article, I did say that a shocking Christina exit was a possibility, I just didn't have the courage to go with that as my pick. Maybe Julianne's comments about Mark last week hurt them and turned people off of their pair.

The Leaderboard

28: Christina Milian, Corbin Bleu
27: Jack Osbourne, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Brant Daugherty
26: Amber Riley, Elizabeth Berkley
24: Bill Engvall
22: Leah Remini

'Dancing with the Stars' Week 4 Recap: Julianne Hough Judges the Top 10
Monday, October 07, 2013
John Kubicek
Senior Writer, BuddyTV
It's a very special week on Dancing with the Stars because an old champion is returning. Len Goodman is taking some time off, so former pro partner Julianne Hough will be taking over as guest judge. The two-time Mirror Ball winner will oversee the Top 10 couples and trade in her dancing shoes for judging paddles.

How will Judgy-anne Hough do? Will she be fair to everyone, including her brother Derek? And which couples will be third to go home?

We'll find out tonight on Dancing with the Stars!

The opening group number ends with an introduction of the judges, with a special solo intro for Julianne Hough. Tom Bergeron then helps Julianne promote her upcoming movie, Paradise, which opens in less than two weeks.

Julianne promises to be kind, but she'll crack the whip when she needs to. She also lets us know she's focusing more on the stars, so there will be no conflict of interest with judging her brother.

Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke: Quickstep

Cheryl admits to PMSing during rehearsals, which might be why she seems so cranky with Jack (who has some serious envy of Corbin). Jack certainly slipped last week, but this week is a bit better. He seems to do a good job with the steps, but he lacks fluidity. Julianne thinks ballroom is his best style, but he needs to have more fun. Carrie Ann Inaba then disagrees with Julianne. Ooh, I think someone is a tad jealous over not being the prettiest girl at the table anymore.

Judges' Scores: 8+8+8=24

Elizabeth Berkley and Val Chmerkovskiy: Argentine Tango

During rehearsal Elizabeth gets into character by staring into Val's eyes for a disturbingly long time to form a connection. The routine itself has Elizabeth as a puppet master controlling Val's violinist. It's wonderfully passionate and exciting, everything I want from a steamy, sultry tango. The judges love it, and Carrie Ann is especially fond of Elizabeth's sharpness. Julianne says that Elizabeth has already fixed the one flaw she was going to point out.

Judges' Scores: 9+9+9=27

I was kind of expecting a 10. I feel like these judges are too scared to give out the first one.

Brant Daugherty and Peta Murgatroyd: Salsa

Brant has an old bike injury that's making some of Peta's more ambitious lifts hard, but she's pushing very hard because they want 10s. The dance itself features Brant taking his shirt off, which is an easy way to give everyone something to shout about. It's definitely hot, but it seems kind of sloppy and they're focusing too much on big moves and lifts and not enough on the actual dance. Carrie Ann loved the lifts, but points out that, by taking his shirt off, he exposed his loosey-goosey arm movements. Julianne agrees, but adds that she's single now. Naughty girl, but I can't really blame her.

Judges' Scores: 7+7+7=21

That's unfortunate. I'd have given them an 8, with the extra point for Brant taking his shirt off. I hope the fact that the audience vote is from last week (when he was the best) offsets his low score tonight.

Valerie Harper and Tristan MacManus: Viennese Waltz

Valerie knows she was a disaster last week but wants to forget it and move on. This is definitely a better style for her. She still seems a bit lost at times, but there are some solid moments and it's definitely a slight improvements. It's pleasant and beautiful. Julianne points out that it's much better when Valerie and Tristan are together rather than having her off on her own.

Judges' Scores: 6+6+6=18

Leah Remini and Tony Dovolani: Cha-Cha-Cha

Leah's idea to get better scores is for Tony to show off some skin and let her sit down and do fewer moves. He refuses to listen. I have to give her a ton of credit, because she was shaking her cha-cha all over the ballroom and did a pretty great job at making it sexy. Carrie Ann loves the face but needs better movements. Julianne and Bruno Tonioli have a bit of a fight over footwork and shoes. It's all very constructive and great feedback.

Judges' Scores: 8+8+8=24

I'm kind of bored with the judges agreeing with the scores.

Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff: Paso Doble

Karina's strategy is to make it as technical and traditional as possible with no gimmicks. It seems like a waste to do that the one week Len Goodman isn't here. The actual routine is mesmerizing. Corbin is powerful and dominant. He goes shirtless, which would be more special if Brant hadn't already done it, but Corbin is damn fine in his own right and it fits with the Paso so it doesn't feel as shameless. The whole thing is just kind of flawless. The judges all point out some very minor hip problems, but they agree that it was brilliant and near perfect.

Judges' Scores: 9+9+9=27

Seriously, they are now actively looking for ways to avoid giving out 10s.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Sasha Farber: Jive

It's a cheerleader theme, which brings up Snooki's history with anorexia when she'd only eat one salad, cracker or grape per day, if that. The dance feels kind of lazy, even though it's quite energetic and they're jumping all around. Also, the cheerleader outfit makes Snooki look really small. Like, she looks like she's an actual little person. Carrie Ann regrettably brings up Len calling Snooki a "pocket rocket." The judges criticize her wayward knees and T-Rex arms.

Judges' Scores: 8+8+8=24

Of course they all agree. I think that deserved at least one 7.

Christina Milian and Mark Ballas: Foxtrot

She's very worried about going home because she was in jeopardy last week, even though that didn't actually mean she was at the bottom. As always, their routine is too stylized for my taste. It opens behind prison bars and then proceeds. It's the polar opposite of what Karina did with Corbin, because everything about the choreography seemed to distract from Christina. Julianne gives voice to my primary complaint, that Mark is a spotlight hog.

Judges' Scores: 8+8+8=24

Why do we even have three judges? I'm not sure, but has there ever been an entire night of DWTS where the judges agreed every time?

Amber Riley and Derek Hough: Tango

She had a knee injury this week, so she's also been struggling with a lack of rehearsal time this week, having to just watch. The routine is solid and consistent with the two connected almost the whole time. It's severe and precise, which is just what you want in a Tango. There's a cute moment where Derek tries to bribe his sister with $10, bringing up all kinds of sibling rivalries about Barbie heads. But they all love it.

Judges' Scores: 9+9+9=27

I feel like if Derek wasn't Julianne's brother, she may have dusted off the 10 paddle. Just kidding, that paddle clearly doesn't exist.

Bill Engvall and Emma Slater: Samba

Last week during dress rehearsal, Bill bumped Emma's head, and he took it harder than she did. For the Samba, it involves a little more hip action than he's used to. He tries hard, and it's funny in certain places, but it's pretty sloppy. He seemed to have fun and it was entertaining, but not as good as I've come to expect from him. Julianne thinks he's like her dad, and she loves dancing with her dad. Bruno said it had everything you want in a Samba, "except timing and rhythm." HA!

Judges' Scores: 7+7+7=21

So the judges were in agreement for every single performance. Yawn. Also, there's no way Bill and Brant deserved the same score.

The Results
Right after Bill and Emma's scores, Tom gives some somewhat surprising news.

Bill and Emma are...SAFE

Wow, way to take away some of the drama. I feel like this bodes poorly for Brant, but I hope not.

These couples are also SAFE:

Elizabeth and Val
Leah and Tony
Corbin and Karina
Amber and Derek
Jack and Cheryl
Christina and Mark

So the three IN JEOPARDY:

Brant and Peta
Valerie and Tristan
Snooki and Sasha

Snooki and Sasha are...SAFE

Valerie Harper and Tristan MacManus are ELIMINATED!

Whew, that seems fair. Sure, her story is amazing and inspiring, but getting to dance for four weeks seems like enough of a gift. She gets a standing ovation and she's so incredibly positive and happy to have had this opportunity. Tristan adds that meeting Valerie has changed his life for the better, which is sweet as well.

She had a remarkable run, but I appreciate that the worst three dancers were the first three couples eliminated this season. That restores my faith in democratic voting.

That does it for another week of impressive dances where just about everyone got either a 24 or a 27. Julianne Hough was fun and offered constructive criticism, even though the scoring was embarrassingly consistent.

Next week on Dancing with the Stars, the couples will celebrate the most memorable years and moments of their lives. It's fine that Valerie won't be around, because I suspect we saw her best year unfold over the last month.

The Leaderboard
27: Elizabeth Berkley, Corbin Bleu, Amber Riley
24: Jack Osbourne, Leah Remini, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Christina Milian
21: Brant Daugherty, Bill Engvall
18: Valerie Harper

Amazing Race Oct.5th show intereresting is what I have to say

Well gave Amazing Race a try last night it was okay I do like the show what I don't like is some of the contestance they get on there well then again most of them get a few folks on the show who are less than to be desired or can't stand :) ha ha!

Anyhow, watched it last night and have to say I got bored never have I really gotten bored watching the show but then when the two guys got to Phil at the check in then started to argue because the one forgot to pay the taxi drive OMG are these two for REAL?? Is production trying to get these people to this crap on here now? Please tell me they are not please?? I mean we see it on Big Brother every season use to that why not sure and Survivor well they don't do it as much as I have seen not as much as Big Brother and CBS if they are doing this now as there "NEW THING" On all there reality shows OMG WHY? Is my question to be honest !

Oh yes the guy who kept telling the person with him see I don't know the relationships of the players most of them anyhow due to was just catching the show last night not to much of whom every one was.. Sorry not my usual of not knowing lol but he annoyed me kept telling the other guy to be quiet he wasn't going to talk while they were on the bikes he was using his air OMG REALLY I about died laughing at that one new one on me!

So on that note gotta run but thank you to all of you who read this blog of mine and I know sometimes I run sentences together and blab on on and on ha ha but I get caught up in the moment to sometimes then again I figure most will get it anyhow I hope..

Colton Cumbie: I'm Too Emotional for Survivor

10/05/2013 at 05:35 PM EDT
Colton Cumbie: I'm Too Emotional for Survivor
Colton Cumbie
Monty Brinton/CBS
In 2012, Colton Cumbie was one of the biggest villains Survivor had ever seen. Often dismissive to his fellow tribe mates, he made bigoted and cruel remarks throughout the show before being medically evacuated with symptoms of appendicitis. (Or so we thought. Host Jeff Probst now claims that Cumbie was faking his illness and simply wanted to quit.)

Returning to play Survivor: Blood vs. Water, Cumbie made it to Day 7 before quitting the game, bursting into tears and saying, "I don't want to be here." A visibly angry Probst told Cumbie, 22, that he was being "selfish" before allowing him to leave Survivor forever.

Cumbie now talks to PEOPLE about his haters, his regrets, and his surprising new job.

Colton, why did you quit?
Growing up as a young gay person in the South, I need to have some control of my environment. I was never physically hurt growing up, but that was a real possibility, especially in a highly religious place. So one of my things is that I need to be in control, or else I feel vulnerable. I'm like a caged animal, and I react. I'm not like that in real life. But when I'm on Survivor, I don't have control of what's going on in the game. Producers have the control, and that's very hard for someone like me.

But this was your second time playing. You knew all about the loss of control.
I did, but I really thought I was going to play with [my fiancé] Caleb. It never once crossed my mind that we would be on different tribes. He keeps me grounded and centered, and I thought that he would help take the edge off.

You wanted to redeem yourself, but it didn't happen. What has the reaction been?
I have met some people who detested me. Like they want me to die. It's ironic; people call me out for bullying, and they bully me in doing that. Or they want to call me a bigot, yet use slurs about sexuality. I get that there are people who legitimately don't like me with good reason, but there are some people who have really shown their own bigotry as they talk about me.

On social media, there are people who have tried out for the show multiple times, and they are very mad at you for squandering your Survivor experience. In essence, you took the place of someone who really wanted to be there. What do you say to them?
If someone wins the lottery, it's their prerogative what they do with the money – if they want to spend it all on hookers and blow, that's their business. This was my opportunity. I'm sorry that they didn't cast you on Survivor, but that's not my fault. Maybe you should become more interesting.

You understand how that comes across, right?
I'm being funny. This is who I am and I'm not changing. You all b––––ed and said you wouldn't watch the show if I was on it, and yet you watched, anyway. Leave me alone.

You just voluntarily went on a reality show. You can't do that and then say, "Leave me alone." Surely you knew you were going to face some scrutiny.
I get that. But people do like me. When people meet me, they like me. You all don't know me, because you have only seen the edited version about me. I hung out with [iconic villainess] Jerri Manthey, and she told me, "I wanted to hate you, but I can't. You're funny."

So, clear this up. Were you really sick when you left the show the first time?
Yes, I was. I'll show you my hospital records if you want to see them. Why would I have quit? I was running the show. I had an Immunity Idol. I would never have quit.

You mean, Jeff Probst was wrong?
I don't know what Jeff's deal is. He told me he had fought for me to be on the show, and now he's saying he didn't want me to be on the show. Jeff just says whatever Jeff wants to say. But I didn't quit the show.

What are your regrets?
I regret how I treated people the first time I played the game. Some of that venom has been held over from One World. I don't think I was that bad this season. I wasn't mean and vindictive.

But you started to create chaos and tell a lot of lies.
But that was strategy. Where do you draw the line between being mean and having good gameplay? I wasn't going to float around. I went into Survivor to be an aggressive, strategic player.

What went wrong?
I'm way too emotional to play that game. I have the strategic mind for it, but my emotions rule me. The lesson I learned is that I should have tried out for Big Brother. People could have seen several sides of me.

Um, but what about the live feeds?
Laughs. Holy crap. What would I have said on a live feed? That could've been bad.

What are you up to next?
I'm in school right now and really enjoying that. I'm studying Elementary Education and working in a kindergarten. I love all my kids. I'm also planning a wedding, and we'll buy some land and build a house. Survivor is a chapter of my life that is closed, and I'm ready to move on.

Quitter twice WOW and Faked the first time HOW SAD! Survivor Blood VS Water

Wow read that Colton quit that is not a shocker really but to quit like he did and faked the first time!! When he was on the show he faked being sick how low is that IMO!!! I guess he quit last night and now is trying to tell his side of the story I wonder if his fiancée broke up with him called it off one will wonder now ..

Rachelle lost her game last night and got sent home after losing on Redemption Island I was rooting for her to to be honest.. I don't care much for Gervase Peterson niece I know I am sure I spelled his name wrong but I can't think of his nieces name Marissa Peterson thats RIGHT LOL! Okay had to look it up geesh lol! Marrissa rubs me the wrong way don't know why but I think after Gervase's little dance he did last week over his tribe winning put a target on his nieces back what an IDIOT Sorry but that was dumb of him to do IMO

Anyhow, hope everyone is having awesome day or evening where ever in the world you may live
